The Story

Gong 14 — 27 Inch Hand-Hammered Nepali Temple Gong One of a Kind

Nepali temple gongs are hand-hammered in the Kathmandu Valley by bronze craftsmen specialists.

This one is 27 inches across, hammered from a bronze in the bell-metal family, patinated dark, and finished with a full iconography that is unique to this one gong.

The central feature of this gong is a large lotus blossom with a temple-flame silhouette.
A layered lotus rises from the lower center of the field, with smaller flame- or bud-like forms lifting behind it.

The central image is simple and strong compared with the more densely patterned gongs, and it is framed by dotted rings, small floral marks, and a broad outer border of lotus and vine work.

The tone here is centered around a low A2, with a softer D#3 partial above it and a B3 shimmer that gives the front of the strike some brightness.

Played with a soft mallet it opens with a quick bloom of upper color, then settles into a low, steady sustain as the brighter partials fall away.

The character is warm, direct, and bass-weighted, with the A2 carrying the main body and the upper partials acting more like a brief halo than a separate voice.

Playing will favor a single clean strike and a slow roll that lets the low tone build evenly. It sounds like a different instrument depending on how you choose to play it.

At The Ohm Store every instrument is selected as a resonator first and a visual object second.

There is only one gong available like this, and you're receiving the exact gong that's pictured and recorded here.

This gong does not include a gong stand.
